And the gentleman in question will be playing Cardinal Wolsey at Shakespeare’s Globe from 15th May to 8th August. Get booking! See http://www.shakespeares-globe.org/ for more details. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that Clive was absolutely mesmeric, in the Histories company, as Bolingbroke, Henry IV and the Duke of York. Also in the cast is Dickon Tyrell whom some may remember from the millennium Richard II production that starred Samuel West.
Oh no!!!! Gnash!! That happened when the new RSC ensemble was announced – Clive was there, then suddenly he was gone. And I’ve already bought by H8 tickets!!!!! Meanwhile I see Geoffrey Streatfeild is in the cast of Earthquakes in London, at the National from July 28. If we can trust him to stay!
Yeah was delighted to pass on news about Clive Wood coming to the Globe – He will be excellent on that big stage! Dickon has appeared at the Globe previously and is used to the space to. He was Ludovicko in Othello about three 3 years ago and it will good to have them both at the Globe.
What wonderful news! Thanks so much for letting me know. He was so so good in the Histories and I’ve been looking out for him ever since with no avail.
Don’t want to worry you but Clive is no longer named on the Globe’s website. Ian McNeice is now down to play Wolsey.
