Friends’ birthday celebrations started with Bucks’ Fizz and Birthday cake in the Upper Circle Bar in the theatre at 9.30 am, an early start but Erica Whyman was there to toast the Bard with Richard Bean and their daughter Ruby, born just a year ago. Chairman Nigel Hugill raised a toast to the Company and actors Joan Iyiola, Jo Bannister, Elliot Worrell Barnes and Paola Dionisotti gave readings, including Carol Ann Duffy’s poem inscribed above the Swan Bar. Paola cut the cake with precision and verve and we headed off to the procession fortified against the chilly morning.
Keith Osborn accompanied Friends to the procession and raised our flag, walking to the church to lay flowers despite the fast approaching matinee call!
Thanks to all who came to make this occasion special in this very special year.
